Haiku Tuesday

This is my second 52 week project. I’m getting back to grade school, tapping out syllables and scratching out mistakes, forgetting there is an eraser on the other end of my pencil. This will be the most interesting feat this year. I do not think of myself as a walking dictionary or thesaurus, so it will be fun working to arrange thoughts in such a way as to fit into the standard Haiku parameters. For those of you that do no know what a Haiku is, here is a short synopsis in my own words:

A short, non-rhyming, three-line, traditional Japanese poem. In English, they typically have 17 syllables: 5 in the first and third lines, and seven on the second. They generally express a single topic, use punctuation for dramatic effect and nature is a common theme.

Without further introduction here is my debut haiku:

chaos amassing–

noticing is victory

we continually change

Gain from it as you please. Mull this one over though. I know this is my first one, and I’m afraid of getting too deep and philosophical.  This concept holds a significant lesson I’ve been trying to grasp over the past few months. Re-read it a few times or even strike up a conversation. Think large scale and small scale, internally, inside your relationships with significant others or objects and how you relate to larger communities.

I hope you will share your thoughts,

Be Inspired. Live Boldly.

  1. Interesting.. It’s fun when poetry sums up so many different ideas/messages in one. Dad wrote one yesterday about the root beer cookies we made. Don’t make yourself be all philosophical with your poetry all the time, it’s fun to be silly with it too and you will benefit just as much.

  2. Yeah I agree.
I’ve been hit over the head with this concept a lot recently, and wanted to share. We will see were the road leads…
    Thanks for reading:)
